Checkers is one of the most ancient of board games, the origins of which are not completely clear. The ancient game of Albuquerque seems to be its ancestor and was played as early as 600 BC in Egypt. In the south of France around 1100, the Alburquerque game was updated and had a newfound popularity. Several ancient books have been written about the game. The first one written in the English language is dated 1756. Who knew you could have fun, play a game and learn some history too?
